We want all of our patients to have regular checkups every six months. The dental exam will include digital X-Rays to identify the early signs of decay so treatment can occur before the condition advances. These X-Rays can also reveal serious health issues such as tumors, cysts, or bone loss. Oral cancer screenings may be important for certain patients, but all patients should be checked for the onset of gum disease.
As part of your six-month checkup, our dental technician will perform a thorough, professional cleaning. Even people who work hard to brush and floss every day cannot remove all of the tartar buildup. This is hardened plaque that becomes attached to the surface of the teeth. As plaque is almost invisible, most patients don’t see or feel it. Because it is made up of growing bacteria, bits of food, and saliva, it unfortunately can inflame the gums and create periodontal disease. Regular cleanings remove these buildups and leave your teeth gleaming and brilliant, and feeling great.
